Kitchen Cabinets in Atlanta, GA

Builder-grade oak boxes from the 1990s show their age in every corner: sagging hinges, worn drawer bottoms and door fronts that no longer close cleanly. Kitchen cabinet replacement in Atlanta starts with a full design, moves through a field measure and a factory order, then runs a two-to-four-day install. Atlanta Cabinet Works manages every step of that sequence so the countertop template and the next trade on site are never held up.

About our kitchen cabinets

The countertop cannot be templated until the new base cabinets are set, plumb and level, which adds a week or two after installation to the overall project timeline. Call today to schedule a design visit and get a written quote that itemizes every box by size and type, so any change to the layout carries a known price before work begins.

What a full replacement includes

A kitchen cabinet replacement covers the full box set: base cabinets that sit on the floor, wall cabinets that mount above the countertop, and tall units such as pantry cabinets and oven towers. Each box is ordered to the layout spec that comes out of the design visit. Accessories ordered at the same time include interior roll-outs, pull-out trash units, Lazy Susans for corner bases, and appliance garages for countertop appliances.

Door hardware ships separately from the boxes. Soft-close hinges and undermount drawer slides are specified at the design stage so they arrive with the order rather than requiring a return trip. Crown molding, light rail and toe kick are measured from the cabinet run and cut on site during installation.

Demolition of the old cabinets is part of the scope. The old boxes come off the wall, the debris leaves the site, and the space is checked for plumb walls and level floors before the new run begins. Any wall repair needed after demo is handled before the new boxes go up.

The replacement process step by step

The sequence starts with a design visit where the room is measured in full, the layout is drawn to scale, and the box sizes are confirmed. That drawing becomes the basis for the order. Door style, wood species or painted finish, box construction and interior fittings are all selected at this stage before anything is ordered.

Once the design is signed off, the factory order is placed. Lead time depends on the line: assembled in-stock boxes can arrive in days, semi-custom lines run four to eight weeks, and custom orders run eight to sixteen weeks. Atlanta Cabinet Works confirms the lead time with the supplier before the order is placed so the project schedule is known at the start.

Installation begins when the cabinets arrive and are inspected. Wall cabinets go up first, then base cabinets, and then the tall units. Everything is shimmed plumb and level before the face frames are scribed to the wall. Doors and drawers are adjusted after the boxes are set. The countertop template can be scheduled the following day.

Kitchen cabinet cost in Atlanta

Kitchen cabinet cost depends on the grade of cabinet, the number of linear feet in the run, the door style, the wood species or finish, and the box construction. The grade ladder has the largest effect: in-stock boxes sit at the low end, semi-custom lines run roughly $150 to $700 per linear foot installed, and custom work runs roughly $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. A full kitchen replacement across all three grades can range from roughly $10,000 to $60,000 installed.

Within any grade, the choices that move the price are door style (a slab door costs less to build than a raised panel or inset), box material (plywood box construction costs more than particleboard but holds fasteners better in Georgia humidity), drawer count versus door count (a drawer base costs more than a door base of the same width), and specialty units such as tall pantry boxes or range hood cabinets.

Demolition, disposal, wall repairs and countertop work are separate line items. These are estimates, subject to change, and the written quote sets the final price.

Hardware choices also move the total cost. Knobs and pulls on every door and drawer are a separate line item, and the range from a basic bar pull to a custom forged handle is wide. Soft-close hinges and undermount drawer slides are standard on semi-custom and custom lines; adding them to an in-stock box run carries an additional cost per door and drawer. A kitchen with 30 doors and 20 drawers feels the difference.

How long a kitchen takes

The total project timeline from the design visit to a finished kitchen runs longer than the installation itself. The design visit, order placement and factory lead time happen before any work starts in the room. For a semi-custom line with a four-to-eight-week lead time, the calendar from first visit to install day is typically five to nine weeks.

Installation itself runs two to four days for a typical kitchen. A small galley kitchen with straightforward walls may finish in two days. A large L-shaped or U-shaped kitchen with a full pantry run, an island and a range hood cabinet runs toward the four-day end. The day after installation is when the countertop template can be scheduled, and countertop fabrication typically adds one to two additional weeks before the room is fully functional.

Scheduling the design visit early in a renovation plan matters because the cabinet lead time governs the whole sequence. A tile installation or a new floor that waits on cabinets needs to know the cabinet delivery date to commit to its own schedule.

The process

From first call to installed cabinets

Four steps, and you make a decision at the end of each one before the next begins.

  1. Call or send the form

We call back, talk through the room and what you want from it, and set a time to visit.

  2. Measure and design

A field measure, then a layout with door style, finish and hardware you can see before you commit.

  3. Written quote and order

An itemized quote with the lead time on it. Cabinets are ordered against the measured drawing once you sign.

  4. Delivery and install

Boxes are checked on arrival, set level and scribed to the walls, doors adjusted, then a walk-through with you.

Questions

Kitchen Cabinets: Common Questions

Do you replace just the doors or the whole cabinet box?

Both services are available. If the existing boxes are structurally sound, plumb and free of water damage, door and drawer front refacing is an option that keeps the boxes in place. Refacing typically runs roughly $4,500 to $10,500 for a full kitchen. If the boxes are sagging, damaged or the layout is changing, a full replacement makes more sense. The design visit is where the existing boxes are evaluated and the right scope is confirmed.

What happens at the design visit?

The room is measured in full, including wall length, ceiling height, window and door positions, and the location of plumbing and electrical. A layout drawing is produced to scale. Door style, finish, box construction, interior fittings and hardware are selected. At the end of the visit there is a written quote itemizing every box by size and type.

How do you handle walls that are not plumb or level?

Walls are rarely perfectly plumb and floors are rarely perfectly level in Atlanta homes, particularly in houses built before 1990. Installation begins with shimming the cabinets plumb and level regardless of the wall surface, then scribing the face frames and fillers to the actual wall. The result is cabinets that function correctly even when the room is not square.

Do you cover the area where I live?

Atlanta Cabinet Works serves Atlanta and the northern and eastern suburbs across Fulton, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties. The design visit confirms the service area at the time of booking. Call to check the current service schedule for your specific neighborhood.

What does the written warranty cover?

Each order comes with a written warranty whose terms are detailed in the quote. Ask at the design visit for the current written warranty terms before the order is placed.
